Personally Identifiable Information supplied to BEST via our Website

Our members area of the website requires a valid email address, a unique User ID and password, and at least one postal mailing address. Membership data (including contact information and committee participation) is maintained on all of our members using hosted mySQL databases. This data can be accessed through a secure online member directory available only to other current members through the password-protected, members-only area of the website. This directory is not made available to the general public.

If you choose to join our Members Interactive Groups or Online Connections in the Members area of the website, you may receive emails from other users as you permit, along with administrative emails and private messages sent to you by others directly from the website. You may change your preferences with respect to such emails at any time by going to User Control Panels.

Both BEST members and non-member users of the websites may be asked to enter personally identifiable information (such as name, phone number, mailing address, e-mail address) in order to perform certain functions, such as scientific membership applications and requesting additional information. You may decline to provide this information, but doing so will impair BEST's ability to perform these functions.

The personally identifiable information you provide to BEST Collaborative will not be shared without your permission. However, there may be some situations where we are unable to keep this promise - if required by a valid subpoena, BEST may be required to turn over personal information. BEST Collaborative will always obtain your consent before providing this information to anyone else. You should remember that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online, at this or any other site, such as on message boards, through email, discussion groups or in chat areas, your information can be collected and used by others.

Gathering and Use of Anonymous Information

Each time a visitor accesses the BEST Collaborative web site, we automatically collect some information to improve the overall quality of the online experience using a website analytics program. Examples of information we collect include, but are not limited to: operating system in use, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, pages visited, items downloaded, date/time stamp, number of clicks, and search queries.

SurveyMonkey agrees not to use the information collected from surveys in any way, shape, or form.
