Study Title
Monitoring plasma proteins in donors of apheresis plasma intended for fractionation: An international study of the impact of current practices
Study Description
This proposed international study is an attempt to have a global picture of the impact of monitoring practices of plasma donors’ protein levels, with the ultimate goal of defining better practices in this regard. Our hope is that this study will provide data that will support these changes.
The primary objective of this study is to measure the proportion of apheresis plasma donors who are found to have abnormally low serum protein levels and to characterize their donation profile in comparison with all plasma donors. A secondary goal will be to identify the proportion of all donors who are found to have abnormal protein measurements, regardless of whether these levels are too low, too high or otherwise abnormal (for example donors with a suspicion of a monoclonal peak in the gamma globulin fraction.)
