Does Lipemia Cause Red Cell Hemolysis? (DOLCE)
Study Description
The study aims are:
1. To compare red cell recovery and haemolysis in components manufactured from lipaemic and non-lipaemic donations from multiple centres;
2. To determine whether the red cell additive solution influences haemolysis in the presence of lipaemia; and
3. To compare red cell haemolysis from lipaemic donations collected and stored in DEHP and non-DEHP containing blood packs.
